The Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Suffering is a Catholic religious community founded to serve people who are ill, poor, or facing difficult life experiences. For more than 140 years, its sisters have sought to share the love of Christ through practical care, prayer, and community service. The congregation’s mission was initiated by Kazimiera Gruszczyńska and is rooted in Franciscan spirituality.
Its work includes operating the St. Francis Care Home in Warsaw, a social care home in Białystok, and a student residence in Warsaw. Sisters also serve in hospitals, clinics, and a school, and support missions in Chad. The congregation offers retreat and holiday homes in Anielin, Muszyna, and Raba Wyżna for visitors seeking rest or spiritual renewal.
