About Fraser Lab
The James Fraser Lab is a research group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), based in the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences. It is also part of the Macromolecular Structure Group and the Quantitative Biosciences Institute. Located in Genentech Hall on UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, the lab investigates the fundamental principles of macromolecular structure and dynamics.
Its research focuses on identifying the conformational states that are essential to biological function and understanding how transitions between those states connect to biological mechanisms. The lab shares its work through research publications and reviews, and its website also features news, teaching resources, and information about its research philosophy. These materials offer insight into the group’s scientific interests and approach.
Led by Professor James Fraser, Ph.D., the lab welcomes motivated applicants from all backgrounds and lists available positions on its Join page. The website provides information for prospective members, along with contact details and resources about the lab’s compact and philosophy.
