**Brand Description**

The Free African Americans Project is dedicated to uncovering and preserving the rich history and genealogy of over 1,100 free African American families in colonial Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, and Delaware. This extensive research highlights the significant contributions of free African Americans, many of whom were landowners and served valiantly in the Revolutionary War. The project has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Donald Lines Jacobus Award from the American Society of Genealogists and the Award of Excellence in Publishing from the North Carolina Genealogical Society.

Offering three comprehensive online books, totaling around 2,700 pages, the project provides a wealth of family histories derived from colonial court records, tax lists, wills, and marriage bonds among other archival materials. Additionally, the site maintains a robust database of genealogy research, along with vital updates on family histories and valuable resources for descendants and researchers alike. The Free African Americans Project is both an educational resource and a community hub, dedicated to honoring and sharing the legacy of free African Americans in history.
