About The Freecycle Network
The Freecycle Network is a global grassroots movement consisting of more than 5,000 local Town groups and over 9 million members worldwide. This nonprofit organization aims to reduce waste, save precious resources, and alleviate the burden on landfills by promoting the act of giving and receiving items for free within local communities. Membership is completely free, and all postings must adhere to the guidelines of being free, legal, and appropriate for all ages.
Here's how it works: after signing up with Freecycle. org, individuals can join local Town groups or create a Friends Circle with local friends. Members can then make posts about items they want to gift or receive, and other members can reply to arrange a pickup time and location.
By participating in this movement, individuals can save items from ending up in landfills and give them a new life. The Freecycle Network is a nonprofit organization whose expenses are funded through grants, underwriting/sponsorship, ad royalties, and individual donations. The network is run by volunteer moderators, and members actively take part in reducing waste and preserving resources
