Freedom Air Force

Freedom Air Force is a nonprofit foundation founded by Peter Williams and his wife, Galia, to expand access to aviation education and support people facing significant challenges. Its scholarship opportunities are designed especially for disabled veterans and disabled first responders, and the organization also welcomes applications from families of deceased veterans, people experiencing poverty, and others in need. Freedom Air Force has expressed a particular interest in reaching American Indian Tribes and honoring their contributions to the nation.

The foundation offers ground and flight training programs that typically run for one year, with instruction tailored to each participant’s learning ability. Ground training helps students prepare for required FAA written and oral exams, while flight training covers the practical skills needed to fly, from takeoff through landing. Alongside teaching people to fly, Freedom Air Force aims to help participants build confidence, work through life’s challenges, and support their mental and physical well-being. The organization relies on donations and volunteers, including pilots and non-pilots, to sustain its work.
