Freestyle is an AI email assistant for Gmail, designed to make managing an inbox faster and less overwhelming. Backed by Y Combinator, the brand presents email as a to-do list and helps users focus on messages that need attention. Its tools sort incoming mail into categories such as newsletters, marketing, notifications, and personal messages, allowing users to clear unwanted items and prioritize replies.

Freestyle can draft responses in the user’s voice, suggest follow-ups, and help users move through email with keyboard shortcuts. It also supports automated rules for recurring tasks, including archiving newsletters, labeling receipts, and handling meeting invitations. For scheduling, the assistant reads email requests, checks calendar availability, and books meetings to reduce back-and-forth. Users can scan for newsletters and subscriptions to unsubscribe from, and search for messages using natural-language queries rather than digging through folders.

Freestyle is offered as a Chrome extension for Gmail, with setup described as taking about 30 minutes. Its goal is to reduce routine inbox work and help users spend less time on email.
