Freezer Longline Coalition

The Freezer Longline Coalition (FLC) is a trade association representing vessel operators who harvest and process wild Pacific cod in the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, and Gulf of Alaska. Its members use specialized longline gear to catch cod and process and freeze it at sea, helping preserve quality and freshness. The coalition describes its fleet as shaped by Alaskan ingenuity and innovation, and its fishing methods as having little to no impact on the ocean floor and minimal bycatch mortality.

Rather than selling a broad range of consumer products or services, FLC represents the freezer longline sector and supports the sustainable harvest of Alaska cod. Its work includes participation in fisheries management, policy discussions, and scientific research focused on the health of the Pacific cod resource, fishermen’s safety, and the long-term preservation of fisheries. Through information about its members, vessels, research, community impacts, and events, the coalition shares how the fleet operates and contributes to the fishing industry.
