Freien Templer zu Tomar

Ordo Militiae Christi Templi Libertas is an association focused on the history, heritage, and traditions of the Knights Templar. Based around the historic Templar centre of Tomar, Portugal, its website presents the town and the Convento de Cristo as important landmarks in the story of the order. It also explores the Templars’ legacy through articles on their beliefs, rules, virtues, leaders, and historical documents, including Jacques de Molay and the Chinon Parchment.

The association’s cultural material extends beyond Portugal to Templar sites and places of historical or spiritual interest across Europe and the Mediterranean. Topics include castles, churches, pilgrimage routes, and the history of Seborga and Constantinople. The site offers a library and articles for readers interested in architecture, medieval history, and Templar traditions. It also provides information about the association’s principles, organization, mission, and membership application process. Rather than presenting a range of commercial products, Ordo Militiae Christi Templi Libertas shares educational and cultural resources and invites visitors to learn about the Templars and their enduring historical significance.
