Freifunk MYK

Freifunk-MYK is a project aiming to establish a local data network using WLAN routers, enabling free communication within the entire region and beyond through peerings with other Freifunk communities. Freifunk nodes, operated voluntarily in many locations, facilitate connection for any WLAN-enabled devices, allowing communication among participants and typically providing internet access. Meetings are held every 1st Tuesday of the month, inviting discussions on various topics related to the project.

In the Mayen and Koblenz area, Freifunk Myk was established following interactions with the Freifunk community in the Köln/Bonn region, with a working infrastructure since early 2015. You can join their initiative to build a Freifunk network in Mayen and Koblenz by getting involved through their mailing list or attending their meetings. Legal concerns such as liability are addressed through a proven concept safeguarding users' anonymity.
