First Response Emergency Medical Services (FREMS) is a non-profit organization that has been providing free rescue, firefighting, and first aid services since 1991. As the only organization of its kind in the metropolitan area of San Juan, Puerto Rico, FREMS is dedicated to saving lives in any emergency situation, such as traffic accidents, fires, and floods. With a team of highly trained volunteers, FREMS responds to emergencies with fully equipped vehicles that are capable of virtually any type of rescue.

These vehicles include hydraulic tools for vehicle rescue, vertical and aquatic rescue equipment, lighting power plants, medical care equipment, patient immobilization, and various types of stretchers. Over the years, FREMS has responded to thousands of emergency situations, saving dozens of lives at risk. Although they are an independent volunteer group, FREMS receives support from government agencies such as AEMEAD, the Puerto Rico Police, the 9-1-1 Board, the Puerto Rico Fire Department, and the Puerto Rico Emergency Medical Services.

This dedicated organization relies solely on donations from corporations and individuals who are passionate about their work. All funds raised are invested in the purchase, maintenance, and operation of their rescue equipment, as their members receive no financial compensation for their efforts, only the immense satisfaction of saving lives
