Friedensfest Augsburg

Friedensfest Augsburg is the City of Augsburg’s annual celebration of peace, centered on the High Peace Festival, observed as a municipal holiday on August 8. The festival has grown beyond its historical focus on peace between Christian denominations to embrace dialogue and peace among religions. Its purpose is to encourage people to approach one another, talk through disagreements, resolve conflicts peacefully, build bridges, and celebrate peace.

The program brings these themes to life through ecumenical services, gatherings organized by the Round Table of Religions, and a wide-ranging cultural program. Events take place at venues across Augsburg, with information about the schedule, tickets, locations, and opportunities to participate available through the festival’s website. The site also shares current program announcements and offers a newsletter for updates. The City of Augsburg’s Peace Office coordinates the cultural program with support from sponsors, funders, partners, and media partners. Friedensfest Augsburg presents peace not only as an ideal to honor, but as a shared practice involving reflection, conversation, and active engagement.
