Friends of the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens is a volunteer-supported organisation dedicated to helping build and maintain the Botanic Gardens and connecting people with the region’s rich biodiversity. Established in 1998, the Friends bring together more than 100 volunteers to make nature more accessible to Gold Coast residents and visitors.
The gardens offer a relaxed setting to explore South East Queensland’s native plants across more than 20 themed zones. Visitors can discover the Regional Arboretum, Endangered Plant Trail, Rotary Sensory Garden, Bush Foods Garden and Story of Our Country Garden Walk, among other areas. The Friends also offer guided walks and tours, including a 45-minute Garden Glider experience.
Activities and services include educational programs, community events, gardening and botanical art groups, a herbarium collection, and opportunities to shop for local native plants, merchandise and floral arrangements. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments at the gardens. The organisation welcomes new members and donations, with contributions described as tax-deductible. The gardens are located at 230 Ashmore Road, Benowa, Queensland.
