About Friends of Animals
Friends of Animals (FoA) is a non-profit, international animal advocacy organization founded in 1957 and based in New York. This organization is dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of nonhuman animals, with a strong emphasis on ending cruelty and institutionalized exploitation across the globe. FoA has pioneered the country's most comprehensive low-cost spay and neuter program, facilitating over 2.8 million procedures to date. In addition to spay/neuter initiatives, FoA champions wildlife protection, habitat conservation, and veganism as core aspects of its mission.
FoA's commitment extends to critical legal advocacy, addressing issues like fur sales bans and trophy imports of endangered species. The organization also runs sanctuaries such as Primarily Primates in San Antonio, caring for over 300 rescued animals. Internationally, FoA actively participates in projects like the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project in The Gambia and conservation efforts for the Scimitar-horned Oryx in Senegal. Through these initiatives, FoA aims to foster a world where animals live free from harm and exploitation.
