Cedar Mountain Battlefield is a brand that is dedicated to preserving and promoting public awareness of the Cedar Mountain Civil War Battlefield and vicinity in Culpeper County, Virginia. As a community-based non-profit corporation, their mission is to work cooperatively with landowners and local citizens to protect, restore, maintain, manage, interpret, and promote this historic site. The battlefield itself holds significant historical importance, as it was the site of a major clash between Confederate and Union forces on August 9, 1862.
Over 3,000 men were killed or wounded during this battle, making it the deadliest day in Culpeper's history. The victory sealed by Major General A. P.
Hill and other Culpeper men was a personal battle to liberate their homes from Union occupation. With the support of local citizens and the American Battlefield Trust, Cedar Mountain Battlefield Foundation has accomplished several milestones. They have restored historical landscape, purchased land, reforested areas, restored roads, and enhanced wildlife habitat.
They have also established guided tours and annual commemoration events to bring the stories of soldiers and civilians impacted by the battle to life. By supporting Cedar Mountain Battlefield, you are contributing to the preservation and education efforts of this important historical site
