Friends of the National Conservation Training Center (Friends of NCTC) is a community organization that supports and advocates for the mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Its purpose is to build a strong, informed community committed to conservation.
The organization offers members and the public opportunities to learn about wildlife, conservation, and the natural world through a quarterly lecture series, conservation films, public programs, and events. Lectures are recorded and made available online, while selected activities include member-only tours of the NCTC museum archives and paddling tours led by member docents. Friends of NCTC also supports habitat restoration and reforestation, fundraising, the American Conservation Film Festival, and the Fallen Comrades memorial-brick fund. Its website features wildlife education resources, including an eagle cam and a children’s page.
People can participate by becoming members, volunteering, attending events, or donating. Contributions support conservation training, education, and public outreach.
