About Friends of Notre-Dame de Paris
Friends of Notre-Dame de Paris is a renowned international nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the rich history, art, and architecture of the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral. Dating back to the 12th century, this Gothic masterpiece is a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts millions of visitors each year. Established in 2017, Friends of Notre-Dame de Paris was initially formed to support the restoration and maintenance of the cathedral, which had not undergone significant repairs since the mid-1800s.
However, after the devastating fire in April 2019, their mission expanded to include the extensive rebuilding and restoration efforts. Working closely with the Archdiocese of Paris, the Fondation Notre Dame, and the French Ministry of Culture, their focus is to raise funds for the reconstruction projects. With the support of over 10,500 donors worldwide, they have already contributed more than $21 million towards restoring Notre-Dame Cathedral.
