About Friends of Peirce Mill
Friends of Peirce Mill, Inc. is a Washington, D. C., nonprofit organization and official National Park Service partner dedicated to preserving and interpreting Peirce Mill, Rock Creek Park’s historic working gristmill.
Through public programs and educational resources, the organization helps visitors explore the mill’s history, its mechanical features, and the area’s agricultural past. Its offerings include seasonal mill demonstrations, community events, guided group visits, and learning materials for teachers and students, including STEM resources. The organization also shares stories and research about the former Peirce Estate and invites volunteers to help explain the site’s history and machinery.
Located at 2401 Tilden Street NW, at the corner of Tilden Street and Beach Drive, the mill welcomes visitors on Saturdays and Sundays during its seasonal operating period. Friends of Peirce Mill supports free public programs with assistance from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts
