About Friends of Youth
Friends of Youth is a community-based organization serving young people, young adults, and families with housing, counseling, foster care, and related support services. In 2025, it helped more than 3,200 people find housing, healing, and stability. Its programs span ages 4 to 24 and include emergency shelter, a 24-hour crisis hotline and shelter referrals, daytime drop-in support, and housing navigation.
Young adults and families can also access affordable and transitional housing, bridge housing, rapid rehousing, rental assistance, and tenant support. Counseling services include individual, family, and group mental health counseling, as well as substance use support. Friends of Youth offers employment and education navigation, life-skills coaching, and Healthy Start services for pregnant and parenting families with young children.
Its Youth Engagement Team connects young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness with case managers, housing navigators, therapists, and legal assistance. The organization also prepares and supports therapeutic foster caregivers. Friends of Youth welcomes people of all backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ youth and caregivers
