The Fritz Lang Foundation works to improve quality of life in Louisiana’s rural communities by expanding access to agricultural and healthcare education. Founded in 1989, the Foundation was established to promote agriculture and support educational opportunities for young people from rural communities near founder Fritz Lang’s farm on the shores of Lake Arthur, Louisiana. Its scholarship program began in 1991 and has provided more than $10 million in scholarships and grants since its inception.
The Foundation has also supported the advancement of agriculture and other rural education interests through donations to schools in Vermilion, Jefferson Davis, and Acadia Parishes, as well as McNeese State University, Southern University in Baton Rouge, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Louisiana State University at Eunice. The Foundation does not currently plan to issue new direct scholarships. Instead, it is working with Louisiana universities to develop a new program intended to benefit the state’s rural population.
Through these efforts, it continues to focus on education and rural community development
