About Fronteira Alorna
The Foundation of the Houses of Fronteira and Alorna is a cultural organization established by Dom Fernando Mascarenhas to connect the heritage of the Fronteira, Alorna and Távora noble Houses with public life. The Foundation oversees the Fronteira Palace, a privately owned museum-house in Lisbon, and promotes the preservation and appreciation of its historical and cultural legacy.
Visitors can explore the palace interior through guided tours, while its gardens are open for independent visits, planned itineraries with audio guides and monthly thematic walks led by art historian Ana Paula Rebelo Correia. The Foundation also offers a year-round cultural program, including meetings of the Fronteira Palace Book Club, concerts, poetry recitals, conferences, seminars and workshops. It supports research into the tangible and intangible heritage associated with the palace and the families connected to it.
For events, selected palace rooms, the Liberal Arts Terrace and garden spaces are available to rent, subject to conditions that protect the monument. From September to June, the Foundation presents a regular music program at the palace.
