Frontier Model Forum

The Frontier Model Forum is an industry-supported nonprofit focused on the safe and responsible development of frontier AI models. Drawing on the technical and operational expertise of its member companies, it works to address significant risks to public safety and national security while supporting AI systems that can meet society’s pressing needs. Its core work includes identifying best practices and supporting standards development, advancing scientific and independent research, and facilitating information-sharing among government, academia, civil society, and industry.

The Forum’s initiatives address areas including AI-bio, AI-cyber, AI-nuclear, AI security, and frontier frameworks. It also publishes issue briefs, technical reports, and public comments. One report examines frontier capability assessments: procedures for evaluating whether advanced models could enable serious risks, such as chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear threats, advanced cyber threats, or certain forms of autonomous behavior. Through research, cross-sector collaboration, shared threat models, evaluations, and mitigation practices, the Forum aims to strengthen understanding of frontier AI safety and security and support independent, standardized assessments.
