The BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards celebrate exceptional contributions to research and artistic creation, honoring innovative work across a spectrum of disciplines. Established to recognize groundbreaking achievements, these awards encompass fundamental advancements in natural, social, and basic sciences, alongside excellence in contemporary music and opera. Each year, awards are presented in eight categories, which reflect interdisciplinary collaboration and the importance of basic knowledge in scientific progress.

The awards highlight significant contributions in emerging fields such as climate change, ecology, and social sciences, with a special emphasis on collaborative efforts among research teams. The selection process is driven by committees of esteemed experts who independently evaluate nominees based on rigorous standards of excellence.
