Frosty Drew Observatory and Science Center

Founded in 1981, the Frosty Drew Observatory and Science Center is dedicated to inspiring knowledge and curiosity about science, the night sky, and the universe. As a non-profit organization, their mission is to educate the public through research and educational programs. The observatory is located in Charlestown, RI and is open to the public free of charge every Friday night, as well as on special occasions.

The Science Center offers an exhibit/meeting/class room, a library, and a John G. Drew Sky Theatre. The theater provides a unique experience by projecting live images observed through telescopes onto a large presentation wall.

The observatory, fitted with an Ash Dome, houses a state-of-the-art 24 telescope that can be controlled remotely. Visitors can enjoy the exceptionally dark sky above, allowing for breathtaking views of celestial objects including the rings of Saturn, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies.
