The Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research (FSCDR) operates Centers of Excellence across Florida, providing specialized care and support for people living with sickle cell disease. Its mission is to research, inform, listen to, respect, treat, and support patients, helping make the condition more manageable and enabling them to pursue full, healthy lives. The organization welcomes new patients at 15 centers, including locations in Hollywood, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and St. Petersburg.

Care is delivered by hematologists and clinicians with sickle cell expertise, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses. Services include infusion and IV therapies, medication management, transcranial Doppler ultrasound, vaccinations, case management, social work, and support with care coordination, referrals, and insurance counseling. The Foundation also offers clinical research, education, and resources for adolescents and young adults, including help with individualized education programs. Its care teams assess each patient’s quality of life and treatment plan, with the aim of supporting treatment adherence, reducing emergency visits, and avoiding extended hospital stays.
