About FSC Indigenous Foundation
The FSC Indigenous Foundation (FSC-IF) is a globally recognized brand within the Forest Stewardship Council family. As an Indigenous-led entity, we are dedicated to co-creating Indigenous forest-nature-based solutions while promoting Indigenous rights and holistic self-development on a global scale. Connected strategically to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) group, our history showcases our commitment to incorporating Indigenous Peoples' rights and Free, Prior, and Informed Consent into sustainable forest management worldwide.
In 2013, the Permanent Indigenous Peoples' Committee (PIPC) was established to ensure Indigenous voices are heard at the highest levels of FSC decision-making, further enhancing forest management and supporting Indigenous Peoples in building FSC certified forest stewardship. With headquarters in Panama, the FSC-IF was established in 2018 to empower and support Indigenous Peoples as the driving force behind change for their territories, development, and rights. We recognize Indigenous territories as crucial sources of global solutions to climate change and carbon cycle management, while also preserving unparalleled biodiversity.
