The Fuerteventura World Cup is an annual windsurfing and wingfoiling competition held at Playa Barca Sotavento, home of the René Egli Windsurf, Wingfoil & Kitesurf Center. First launched in 1986 by windsurfing pioneer René Egli in collaboration with the Pájara municipal government, the event is supported by the René Egli team, Meliá Hotels, the municipal government and the Fuerteventura island government. The 38th edition is scheduled for July 17 to August 1, 2026, and is one of only two PWA Grand Slams that year.
The programme features windsurfing freestyle and Slalom X, followed by GWA wingfoiling in FreeFly-Slalom and Surf-Freestyle. Men and women compete across the disciplines, with world championship titles decided in the listed categories. Visitors can watch the action at Sotavento World Cup Beach or via livestream. The event’s website also provides schedules, competition information, news, results, photo galleries, videos and media accreditation details. Its setting is known for reliable winds, turquoise water, white-sand beaches and a tidal lagoon.
