Fundação Santander Portugal is a foundation focused on transforming the lives of people and businesses through education and promoting social and economic mobility in Portugal. It views education as a catalyst for opportunity and works across different stages of life, aiming to widen access, inclusion and success. Since 2022, the foundation reports investing €28.2 million, reaching 500,000 people and working with more than 100 partners.

Its initiatives support lifelong learning, the future of education and learning through culture. Through Santander Open Academy, it offers access to courses, learning materials and scholarships in areas including technology, artificial intelligence, finance, languages and mental health. Santander X supports entrepreneurs, start-ups and small and medium-sized businesses with training, awards, mentoring and an international network. The foundation also shares practical information through Salto, a community blog covering subjects such as finance, wellbeing, family and business.

Other work includes supporting innovative social organisations through funding, training and mentoring, and renewing Lisbon’s historic Edifício dos Leões as a future public space for learning, work and culture.
