Fundación AS

Fundación AS is an Argentine nonprofit organization founded by journalist Ana Sicilia, whose work in prisons inspired the initiative. Raised in Burzaco, Buenos Aires Province, Sicilia created the “Libros en los pabellones” project in 2017, bringing books to correctional facilities across the country. The project’s reach led her to establish the foundation, which supports access to books and reading in prison communities.

Fundación AS has visited 15 provinces and delivered 15,000 books over nine years of project work. Its activities include developing prison libraries, distributing books, and sharing stories about the people and ideas involved. The organization also presents “Libros tras las rejas,” Sicilia’s book about this work, through public events and cultural programs.

The foundation is led by a team responsible for executive management, education, administration, and territorial development, with provincial directors in Salta and Misiones and territorial work in Santa Fe. It invites the public to contribute and provides contact information for people interested in learning more or supporting its efforts.
