Fundación Caja Extremadura

Fundación Caja Extremadura is a nonprofit foundation committed to society, culture and creating social value in Extremadura. Its work aims to contribute to the wellbeing and quality of life of people in the region and the wider community through social, cultural and entrepreneurship initiatives.

The foundation’s social programmes include volunteer opportunities, grants and community projects, alongside work in healthcare, hospital humanisation and medical research. Its Scellentia initiative represents a newer focus on improving the hospital experience. In culture and education, the foundation presents Obra Abierta, an international visual arts prize, and organises exhibitions, training and other activities through its cultural programme.

The foundation also supports entrepreneurs through Sámara Emprende, which helps people develop business ideas, as well as Sámara Rural and Sámara Conecta. Its centres and venues include Colegio Mayor Universitario Antonio Franco, Auditorio Santa Ana, the El Salugral Environmental Education Centre and Museo Narbón, alongside a digital museum. Through these programmes, awards and facilities, Fundación Caja Extremadura brings together community support, cultural engagement, education and enterprise development.
