JARDÍN ALADO

Mateus Foundation is an Ecuador-based organization dedicated to wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and environmental education. Through partnerships with rescue centers and nature reserves, it provides logistical, technical, and professional support to improve the care of animals in captivity and, where possible, help them recover and return to their natural habitats. The foundation also offers tailored training for rescue center staff, environmental authorities, and communities on species handling, wildlife trafficking cases, bird-of-prey care, and rehabilitation. Its conservation services include guidance for environmental projects, support with administration and decision-making, and help securing funding and long-term sustainability.

The foundation manages Jardín Alado, a wildlife rehabilitation center near the Ilaló volcano focused on rescued birds, including those affected by illegal trafficking, mistreatment, or improper captivity. Visitors can learn about its work, and entrance fees contribute to the birds’ care. Mateus Foundation also supports scientific research and learning experiences for all ages, and invites people to contribute through donations, volunteering, visits, and awareness-raising. Its mission connects science, education, communities, and nature to protect Ecuador’s biodiversity.
