Fundación Vital

Fundación Vital is an organization focused on providing schoolchildren with meaningful environmental education and opportunities to connect with the natural world. Through its Aula Vital project, it aims to help young people step away from virtual environments and learn through direct outdoor experiences. Aula Vital offers an integral educational program based at a mountain refuge in a natural setting near Collada del Puerto, around 1,000 metres above sea level, in the municipality of Yernes y Tameza, Asturias.

Its activities are organized into three program areas: Energía Vital, Naturaleza Vital and Experiencia Vital. Together, these programs provide educational experiences outdoors, using the surrounding landscape as a setting for learning. The site is surrounded by nature and historic shepherds’ shelters, offering a distinctive environment for school groups. Fundación Vital also shares information about its history, governing board, educational programs and practical details for visiting the Aula. The recommended route begins in Grado and follows local roads, with an unpaved but generally passable final stretch.
