Fundación Cultural Galega Xistral is a cultural foundation dedicated to celebrating, preserving and sharing the heritage of Galician language and culture. It sees books and literature as vital parts of Galicia’s collective identity, and supports the people and organisations that create, publish, distribute and read them. Its work includes campaigns that encourage people to read in Galician, promote Galician books and recognise the contributions of writers, including women honoured on the Day of Galician Literature.

Through M8porler, the foundation is also developing a community platform where readers can create lists, follow favourite authors and connect with like-minded readers. Xistral organises and supports literary activities, including reader-mediation events such as Moito por ler!, and is associated with the Follas Novas Galician Book Awards. Its campaigns invite audiences to discover and share literature in their own language, while its outreach and communication channels keep supporters informed about news and initiatives.

Guided by a commitment to nurture the cultural legacy it has inherited, the foundation works to conserve, enrich and make Galician culture accessible to wider audiences
