Fundamental Designs is a South African custom furniture and cabinetry manufacturer established in 1997. Based in Wynberg, Sandton, the family-run business works primarily with architects, interior designers, procurement agents and retailers, helping turn project drawings or design briefs into finished installations. Its services include one-off and freestanding custom furniture, shop-fitted cabinetry, and contract furniture for hotels, lodges, restaurants and offices.
The company’s in-house facilities bring design development, shop drawings, machining, cabinet and steel fabrication, finishing, delivery and installation together under one roof. It works with materials and finishes including solid timber, veneers, hand-painted and lacquered surfaces, high-gloss duco, steel and glass-fibre reinforced concrete. Projects range from residential kitchens and full-house joinery to commercial and hospitality interiors, retail fit-outs and larger rollouts.
Fundamental Designs can build to client specifications, check site dimensions, provide shop drawings for approval and install with its own team. While it primarily serves trade partners, homeowners can also get in touch for guidance on working with a designer. Its projects reach clients across several continents
