About Gældsstyrelsen
Gældsstyrelsen, also known as the Danish Debt Collection Agency, is an integral part of the Ministry of Taxation in Denmark. They play a crucial role in the financing of the public sector by ensuring that taxes and duties are paid or collected. Without their efforts, it would not be possible to provide the necessary revenues that form the foundation for the public service in Denmark.
Each year, the Danish Customs and Tax Administration, which is a part of the Ministry of Taxation, collects close to DKK 1,000 billion for financing the public sector. This requires significant expertise, with a robust IT system and legal and financial knowledge to manage complex processes and data. Gældsstyrelsen, along with ten other specialized agencies, works towards their core tasks within the Ministry of Taxation.
