The Gaelic Players Association (GPA) is the leading representative body for high-performance inter-county players in Ireland. Established in 1999 by players, and further strengthened by its merger with the Women's Gaelic Players Association in 2020, the GPA provides support to over 4,000 male and female inter-county players, as well as former players, across four essential pillars: Player Representation, Player Welfare, Player Development, and Equality. Under the welfare pillar, the GPA offers a comprehensive Counselling Support Service that provides assistance to members facing various challenges such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship or family issues, addiction treatment, and more.

Additionally, a benevolent fund is in place to assist current and former players struggling with severe financial difficulties. The GPA is committed to ensuring the overall well-being and development of its members, and through partnerships with educational institutions across the country, they offer enhanced scholarships to a limited number of GPA members each year. This collaboration seeks to facilitate the academic advancement of players both on and off the field.
