About Global Agriculture & Food Security Program
The Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) is a multilateral financing initiative designed to enhance food and nutrition security in the world's most vulnerable regions. Launched by the G20 in response to the 2007-08 food price crisis, GAFSP has allocated over $2 billion since its inception in 2010 to support sustainable agricultural practices and resilient food systems.
By providing grants, concessional loans, technical assistance, and innovative financing solutions, GAFSP empowers governments, farmers, producer organizations, and private sector entities to implement impactful projects across the food chain, from farm to table. The program emphasizes collaboration with a diverse array of stakeholders, including civil society organizations, ensuring that the voices of smallholder farmers are integral to decision-making processes. GAFSP is dedicated to addressing urgent issues such as climate action and food loss, aiming for a future where all individuals have access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food. Through a commitment to improving food systems, GAFSP fosters resilience and sustainability in agriculture, ultimately enhancing livelihoods globally.
