The German-American Heritage Foundation of the USA is an educational organization and the national umbrella organization for German Americans. Their mission is to preserve and inform about the history of Americans of German-speaking ancestry and their role in building the United States. In March 2010, they opened the German-American Heritage Museum, the first national inspiration for German-American heritage and culture.
The museum tells the story of all Americans of German-speaking ancestry and how they helped shape the nation. Located in Washington, DC, the museum is centrally located in Hockemeyer Hall, which has historical significance as a former home to over 4000 German immigrants. The foundation aims to make German-American history more readily available to a broader audience, fostering mutual understanding and increasing public knowledge about the rich heritage of all Americans of German descent.
Donations to the foundation are tax-deductible, and they encourage support and involvement through volunteering and memberships
