About Gaia-X Association for Data and Cloud
Gaia-X is a brand that aims to create a digital governance framework for cloud and edge technologies, based on European values. Their goal is to provide transparency, controllability, portability, and interoperability across data and services. Unlike a market operator, Gaia-X does not directly operate any of the services required by the governance.
The brand believes that the future of the economy lies in the digital economy, where data is collected and exchanged among multiple participants and organizations in the value chain. However, the exchange of data is currently hindered by proprietary and non-transparent technologies that lack trust. Gaia-X seeks to address these limitations by enabling the creation of Data Spaces through trusted platforms that comply with common rules.
This allows users and providers to trust each other and freely share and exchange data. With 1800 contributors and 350 members, Gaia-X is making strides in creating a federated secure data infrastructure
