Fernández-Braso is a contemporary art gallery in Madrid that has been offering exhibitions of contemporary painting for almost four decades. With a focus on engaging with the local artistic community, Fernández-Braso showcases the works of both established and emerging artists. Currently, the gallery is pleased to present the first exhibition of artist Cristina Almodóvar titled "Plenitud y Vacío" (Plenitude and Emptiness) as part of the Apertura 2023.
The exhibition explores the (inter)relationship and dialogue between the art object and its environment. Almodóvar's sculptures, with their organic and natural forms, are displayed as both material and immaterial manifestations, inviting viewers to contemplate their delicate yet robust nature. The gallery is transformed into a fertile territory where shadows are projected onto empty space.
Each artwork reflects Almodóvar's humanity, with her body and hands shaping the iron sculptures, connecting to the fundamental essence of art. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog featuring a text by art critic and philosopher Fernando Castro Flórez. With a diverse roster of artists spanning different styles and techniques, Fernández-Braso aims to meet the needs of visitors and collectors alike, presenting a balanced mix of aesthetic appeal, conceptual discourse, and market acceptance.
