GALERIE SHIA BENDER

Galerie Shia Bender is a contemporary art gallery in Düsseldorf, also known as Kunstraum 49 after its address. Opened in November 2011, the 300-square-metre gallery provides a platform for emerging artists and presents exhibitions and projects with established artists, including work in public spaces. Its programme focuses on distinctive, individually created art with strong ideas and artistic skill rather than purely decorative work. The gallery explores contemporary perspectives and new visual worlds, including art that engages with digital media.

Galerie Shia Bender represents artists such as multimedia artist Kanjo Také, whose work combines painting with photography and computer-based techniques, and Simone Pellegrini, known for unique monotypes. Alongside exhibitions, the gallery presents artists through events and projects, and offers visitors opportunities to encounter their work. Shia Bender also works with art-interested buyers to develop a suitable concept for experiencing and placing art in a space. The gallery’s activities include exhibition openings, artist presentations and an Art Dinner, connecting audiences with contemporary art and its creators.
