Galten-Skovby Karate

Galten-Skovby Karate is a local karate club offering Wado-Ryu training for children, young people and adults in Galten, Denmark. Training takes place at Galten-Skovby Kampsport Center, and the club has welcomed members since August 2016. Its aim is to develop its range of training groups as membership grows and participants build their skills, with the longer-term ambition of making seminars and competitions available to members.

Classes are led by chief instructor Kjeld Kjærsgaard, who holds 5th dan in karate and 1st dan in kobujutsu. He has trained in karate since 1992, has more than 15 years of coaching experience with people of different ages, and completed instructor education through the Danish Karate Federation. He also takes part in courses and training seminars in Denmark and abroad.

The club practises Wado-Ryu, a style founded by Hironori Ohtsuka. Its name is commonly translated as “the way of peace,” reflecting an emphasis on harmony and avoiding violence. Training draws on modern exercise principles and teaching approaches intended to support engagement, learning and progress.
