GameGear is an Australian sports-protection company developing advanced headgear for AFL, rugby league, rugby union and other contact sports. Its design centres on patented Nodal Impact Attenuation (NIA) technology, which uses an interlocking lattice structure to absorb and disperse impact forces across multiple points. Independent laboratory testing reported more than 90% better impact-force reduction than traditional headgear, and GameGear says its headgear is the only product to pass the AFL Advanced Football Headgear Standard.
The headgear is designed to balance protection with comfort and performance. Features include multilayer foam padding, 175 ventilation holes, a lightweight 350-gram construction, a refined cheek plate for visibility, and an adjustable chinstrap for a secure fit. It is available in six sizes, from XS to XXL, and can be purchased through the brand’s online store, with team orders also offered.
GameGear makes no claim that its product prevents concussion. In collaboration with Monash University and other partners, it is preparing a study to assess the headgear’s effectiveness in real-world contact sports.
