Föreningen Gamla Norrköping is a historical and cultural association founded in 1930 to help preserve the history and character of Norrköping. Guided by its motto, “Preserve the city’s layers,” the association brings people together to explore the city’s past and keep its heritage alive. It welcomes members who share an interest in local history and in passing knowledge on to future generations.
The association organizes regular gatherings featuring talks, as well as cultural outings and guided walks around the city. These activities offer opportunities to learn about Norrköping’s history and connect with others interested in its development. Its meeting venue is the historic Hamnkällaren on Packhusgatan 4 in Norrköping.
Föreningen Gamla Norrköping also awards an annual humanities scholarship for advanced studies in subject areas with historical connections, supporting deeper research and wider understanding of the city’s past. Through events, educational initiatives, membership, and its scholarship, the association works to make local history accessible and relevant.
