About Ganondagan
Ganondagan State Historic Site, located in Victor, NY, is a National Historic Landmark dedicated to the Seneca heritage, making it the only New York State Historic Site with a Native American theme. Spanning nearly 600 acres, this site preserves the legacy of a 17th-century Seneca town, showcasing the tribe's contributions to concepts of peace, democracy, and ecological stewardship. One of its highlights is the full-size Seneca Bark Longhouse, which offers a glimpse into the living conditions of a typical Seneca family from the late 1600s through authentic furnishings and artifacts.
In 2015, the Seneca Art & Culture Center was established, encompassing 17,300 square feet of interactive exhibits that educate visitors about Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) culture, art, and history. The center features an Exhibit Gallery, Orientation Theater, and gift shop, alongside scenic interpretive trails that weave through the landscape, connecting nature and cultural education. Ganondagan invites visitors to engage with the living story of the Seneca people, celebrating their enduring presence and heritage.
