Gan Shalom Preschool is an early childhood education provider in Lexington, Kentucky, founded by Ohavay Zion Synagogue. Serving local families since 1989, it offers a nurturing, supportive and enjoyable first-school experience for children aged 12 months to five years. The preschool holds a five-star rating through Kentucky All STARS, the state’s quality-rating system for early care and education.
Its programs combine age-appropriate learning and recreational activities to support children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. A thematic curriculum introduces reading, writing, art, math, science and the natural world, alongside music and fitness classes, exposure to Hebrew words, and learning about Jewish holidays. Lessons are designed for different ages and learning styles, helping children build confidence, friendships and a foundation for kindergarten and continued learning.
Gan Shalom emphasizes individualized attention through low child-to-teacher ratios and a team of experienced, dedicated educators. A parent and community advisory board also helps guide the program.
