About GA Peanut Commission
The Georgia Peanut Commission is committed to promoting, researching, and educating consumers about peanuts. Established in 1961, this commission is funded by a small assessment fee on all peanut producers in the state. Governed by a board of five elected peanut farmers, the commission is best known for its iconic little red bags of Georgia Peanuts.
The value of peanuts in Georgia's agricultural industry is unparalleled, with a staggering $2. 2 billion industry in the state. In fact, Georgia farmers produced an astounding 52% of the peanuts grown in the entire United States in 2022, totaling over 1.
45 million tons. With approximately 4,000 peanut farmers in Georgia, peanuts account for 29% of the state's row and forage crops income. As Georgia's Official State Crop, peanuts are deeply rooted in the state's history and economy.
