APS GarbaPlayground is a community sports association founded in 2022 to put young people and the local area at the heart of its work. Based in Rome’s Garbatella neighborhood, it uses basketball as a way to bring people together and support urban renewal. The association manages and maintains the outdoor courts on Via Malfante and Via Giacinto Pullino, creating welcoming spaces for players of different ages and skill levels.
GarbaPlayground organizes engaging streetball tournaments, basketball events and community activities, and supports youth participation in competitions such as the Lazio Street Circuit 3x3. Its blog shares event recaps, team news, achievements and local collaborations. The association also offers an online shop featuring clothing and accessories designed for players and basketball fans. Membership brings access to discounts and promotions through participating sponsors and neighborhood businesses. By working with both national partners and local organizations, GarbaPlayground aims to make sport an accessible shared resource and turn community support into lasting value for the people who live in the area.
