About National Garden Clubs
National Garden Clubs, Inc. With a mission to provide education, resources, and national networking opportunities, they aim to cultivate a love for gardening and instill a sense of environmental stewardship. National Garden Clubs brings together state and local garden clubs, both in the United States and abroad, coordinating their initiatives and activities.
The organization originated from the first garden club meeting in Athens, Georgia in 1891, where women sought knowledge and camaraderie through the study of plants. As the number of garden clubs grew, the idea of forming a national organization was conceived, giving birth to National Garden Clubs, Inc. Today, National Garden Clubs continues to fulfill its core objectives through a variety of programs and initiatives.
They help identify areas in need of community improvement, support local garden clubs, and collaborate with organizations that share their vision. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri adjacent to the Missouri Botanical Gardens, their permanent home serves as a hub for education and collaboration.
