About GAYa NUSANTARA
GAYa NUSANTARA is a pioneering gay organization in Indonesia that is open and proud of its true identity, and does not discriminate against sexual, gender, and other backgrounds. This non-profit organization was founded on August 1, 1987 by Dede Oetomo as a collective to advocate for the rights of the LGBTIQ community. On June 27, 2012, the organization was officially transformed into the GAYa NUSANTARA Foundation through approval from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
GAYa NUSANTARA is a member of various international and regional networks including GWL-INA Asia Pacific Coalition on Male Health (APCOM), International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA), Coalition for Sexual and Bodily Rights in Muslim Society (CSBR), Jaringan UNAIDS, The Global Alliance for LGBT Education (GALE), Talking About Reproductive & Sexual Health Issue (TARSHI), Human Rights Watch, International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, The Global Fund, Outright International, Ashoka Indonesia, and Teman Teman Transgender Thailand. Through their website, GAYa NUSANTARA provides resources and information on LGBTQ+ issues, HIV & AIDS, healthcare services, and offers various media forms such as books, magazines, journals, and videos. They also accept donations to support their work
