Gay Hockey DC

Gay Hockey Washington, D.C. (GHDC) is an inclusive gay-straight social hockey team serving the Washington, D.C., area. Built around the idea that hockey is a game to enjoy throughout life, GHDC emphasizes fun, sportsmanship, confidence, focus, and team building. The organization brings people together through shared experiences, from friendships formed in the locker room to connections made on the ice, with the goal of fostering lasting relationships.

Beyond its team activities, GHDC aims to drive positive social change by challenging homophobia through hockey. It also offers customized diversity training opportunities for the wider D.C. hockey community. Community events include team brunches, Sunday Skate sessions at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, and Washington Capitals game nights. People can join the mailing list to receive updates about these activities; GHDC states that personally identifiable information submitted for the list is kept confidential. Through inclusive play, social events, and educational opportunities, GHDC works to make hockey a welcoming way for people to build connections and participate in sport.
